The Copper Creek Pack

It’s been a little over two months since I’ve written about Colorado’s reintroduced wolves, and in that time, the birth of Colorado’s first wolf pup was announced!

Back in April, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) released data suggesting that one of the reintroduced female wolves may be denning, which they thought might suggest she was going to have a litter.

Since then, CPW has confirmed that two of Colorado’s reintroduced wolves did welcome a pup in May or June - forming Colorado’s first reintroduced wolf pack! The pack has been been named the Copper Creek Pack, presumably after the creek located in Grand County, where the wolf pup was located. While only one pup has been confirmed, it is likely there are more; wolves normally give birth to four to six pups per litter.

CPW has not released any pictures of the wolf pup yet, so enjoy the above stock photo instead while we wait for more updates!
