New Colorado License Plate Supports Wolves and Ranchers

The “Born To Be Wild” license plate is now available for purchase in Colorado.

According to WolfPlate.org, the new Colorado license plate from Rocky Mountain Wolf Project will support two bills approved by Governor Jared Polis: HB23-1265 creates the new license plate that will “support programs to prevent conflicts with gray wolves through non-lethal means, while SB23-255 “creates a permanent appropriation to cover livestock losses to wolves.”

“Both bills are the result of unprecedented collaboration between wildlife conservationists, hunters and livestock producers.”

Quote from WolfPlate.Org

A black-bordered license plate with white mountains reads "Colorado" on top and "Born to Be Wild" on the bottom. A gray and white wolf is depicted in the middle of the license plate number.

According to WolfPlate.org, “the charge will be approximately $118, which includes the annual $50 fee plus other one-time charges.” Unfortunately for me, this puts the wolf plate outside of my budget at this particular time, but the next time I renew my registration I’ll be checking into it! In the meantime, it’s great to see this collaboration between pro-wolf reintroduction folks and ranchers and hunters who were opposed. Plus, it’s a beautiful license plate!
